What Happened to Solid Power?

Solid Power went public in December 2021 through a merger with Decarbonization Plus Acquisition Corporation III (a Riverstone Holdings SPAC) at a $1.2 billion valuation. The Colorado-based company is developing sulfide-based solid-state batteries that promise higher energy density and improved safety over conventional lithium-ion batteries. Ford and BMW are development partners, but the technology remains in the development stage and the stock has fallen significantly as commercialization timelines have stretched.
